Frrvrr launch party in Austin on March 10th
bird poops on plum branch
If you're gonna be in Austin for the nerd portion of SXSW, please come to this launch party that I'm helping throw.

43 Things is tangentially partnered with these guys (Frrvrr), and I think what they're doing is potentially very interesting.  I can't accuse them of not having a big idea at least.  And being spirited.  We'll see if it really does change the way cities are built, so to speak.  Sign up for their beta and we can talk more on the other side once they start letting more people in.

Here's the Facebook event page.  Help us spread the word!

I don't get to go to SXSW this year, sadly. I do like Freezepop though.

I wonder what it says about me that their lack of vowels makes me not want to find out what they're potentially doing. Their name sounds like early morning construction noises in my head.

I think this is the same reason I hate lolcats so much--I seem to have extreme reactions to the noise that some words make inside my head.

I'm changing my name to lrrlrl

I had delusions of SXSW this year, but gave up on them because I have to go to another meeting in Colorado Springs right in the middle of it. Sounds like a great party though!

sxsw is totally worth it. it's not too late...

it's getting close! I'd need to find a plane ticket, a hotel room, and a pass...

the only challenge on that list is the hotel room, but i know someone looking to cancel their reservation (walkable from the main sxsw stuff) from the 12th to the 16th - let me know if you want me to put you in touch.

thanks. my main problem is that I have to be at another meeting from the 12th -- 15th; so I'd miss almost all of music anyway.

"When you sign up, Frrvrr's AvaTroll Accelerator™ will download itself onto your desktop and begin cataloguing your web history, or 'webtory,' from the past eight months. Once it gathers all of your information, it creates a personalized avatar of you based on the snapshot of you gleaned from web usage and sites visited."

Wow. I don't know what's scarier: that people keep their "webtory" intact for 8 months, or that this data will become Frrvrr's property.

"Frrvrr makes uploading your own content easier than ever. Frrvrr's Flashlight™ application automatically scans your computer and public records for photos, music, and documents, and then uploads them directly to your Frrvrr Profile page. No need to search for long-lost pictures, songs, or webmail. Frrvrr finds it all!"

OK, I get it. Very funny.

(K, I gt t. Vry fnny.)

tokyo police club are great, so i'd say you should try to make it for them if nothing else.
